Gary La Grange
Gary P. LaGrange, president and chief executive officer of the Port of New Orleans is also chairman of the board of the American Association of Port Authorities and on the board of directors of the Waterways Council, Inc.

A native of South Louisiana, he received his B.A. and Master of Arts in Urban Planning, with honors, at the University of Southwestern Louisiana. He came to New Orleans after serving as Executive Director of the Mississippi State Port Authority at Gulfport.

Mr. LaGrange was elected to the National Rivers Hall of Fame in 2005, before Hurricane Katrina; but his efforts since Katrina to restore this valuable port to our national transportation system only highlights the important role that he has played and continues to play in American riverways, commented Jerry Enzler, director of NRHOF.

Mr. LaGrange is a devoted advocate of community involvement and his participation in numerous business and civic organizations rival that of his professional commitments. In 2003 he was named the Propeller Club of New Orleans Maritime person of the Year.
