A Blast to the Past at the Ham House

June 19-23, 2017
For students entering grades 1-5

Return to the days of yore at the Mathias Ham House! We’ll bring history to life as we experience what Dubuque was like for the pioneers who traveled here so many years ago. Join us to partake in period activities, music, crafts, and treats. This one-of-a-kind experience will leave you with amazing stories to share!

For students entering grades 1-5

What kinds of fish lurk in the deep? Dive into this adventure to discover the world’s most monstrous fishes! We’ll visit the new Monster Fish exhibit, be wowed by enormous life-sized fish sculptures, and compare strange ancient fish to the ones we see every day. Adventures will continue outside as we grab our fishing poles to meet the fish that call the Mississippi River home. This week-long experience is filled with hands-on activities, games, and crafts that you won’t want to miss!

Walk The Plank

July 17-21
For students entering grades 1-5

Ahoy, matey! Become part of the crew as we embark on a buccaneer adventure! We’ll search for treasures using a variety of navigation tools and become familiar with pirate myths and legends. The fun continues aboard the William M Black dredge boat as we experience what life was like for those who worked on that vessel more than 80 years ago. Get ready to swab the decks and hoist the anchors as we set sail on this fun-filled journey!

Nature’s Canvas

July 24-28
For students entering grades 1-5

Enjoy a week of creativity as we mix nature and the arts! We will draw inspiration from endangered animals and the habitats in which they live. Investigate colors and patterns in nature, create nature-inspired masterpieces each day, encounter live animals, and explore the great outdoors. This camp will spark your imagination while offering plenty of fun!

Can You Dig It?

July 31 – August 4
For students entering grades 1-5

If it involves dirt, chances are we’ll have our hands in it! From tunnels and caves to composting and gardening, we’ll examine things that are found deep, down, and underground! Become a soil expert, learn about the green things on your plate, and dig into hands-on activities, games, and crafts for an unforgettable experience.

Outdoor Odyssey

August 7-11
For students entering grades 6-8

Take summer camp to the next level! This advanced camp will take middle school students on a journey throughout the Dubuque area to experience what the region has to offer. Join us as we hit the trails at Swiss Valley Nature Preserve, paddle and fish the Mississippi River backwaters, explore the historic Mathias Ham House mansion, and participate in other adventures off-campus. Our week will conclude with a night among the fishes at the Museum & Aquarium. You won’t want to miss this one!
