The Dubuque County Historical Society's annual gala, Captain's Ball, will be held on Friday, Nov. 1, 2019, at the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium's River Discovery Center (Paddle Wheel Building). This event includes a cocktail hour, silent auction, live animal programs, live entertainment, a plated dinner, live auction, and after-dinner sweets, coffee, and entertainment.

Proceeds from this event support the DCHS and its entities: The National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium, Mathias Ham Historic Site, National Rivers Hall of Fame, and RiverWorks Discovery. Funds raised will help support our organization's STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) education efforts.
The DCHS and its entities have been instrumental in increasing the publics’ understanding of STEM learning, focusing on conservation issues, deepening community engagement, creating new and dynamic tourism experiences, and preserving local history. The DCHS has spent the last 40 years building a legacy, which displays the history and cultures of the Mississippi River and Rivers of America, and will continue to do so with community support through this event.
