DaVinci Days: Decode Day

Leonardo da Vinci was a man of many talents, which is why the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium is hosting DaVinci Days, a seven part series highlighting DaVinci’s genius with events and activities. Part five of seven, “Decode”, sponsored by Dubuque Bank & Trust, will be held Saturday, August 11, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Decode Day is inspired by da Vinci’s unique mirror writing style in which he wrote backwards to shield his work from prying eyes.

“Decode” Day will feature various activities related to codes, clues, and camouflage. These include:

  • Mirror writing activity as visitors attempt to mimic da Vinci’s writing style
  • Learn how to send and decipher Morse Code
  • Scavenger hunt throughout the facility. Completed hunts will be entered to win four free passes on their next visit
  • Hidden Meanings and Hidden Treasures guide within DaVinci The Exhibition
  • Special Creature Features highlighting camouflaged critters such as the giant gecko and the horned frog

During “Decode” Day, DB&T customers may identify themselves at the box office at time of purchase to receive free children’s admission to DaVinci The Exhibition with paid general admission. All DaVinci Day activities are included with admission to both the Museum & Aquarium and DaVinci The Exhibition. Tickets are available at the box office or online at rivermuseum.com.

American Trust & Savings Bank is the premier sponsor for DaVinci The Exhibition. Lead exhibit sponsors include KWWL, Radio Dubuque, and Diamond Jo Casino. TH Media is a partner exhibit sponsor, and Prudential is an associate sponsor.
