Come help us celebrate Independence Day at the Mathias Ham Historic Site’s 55th Ice Cream Social. Dubuque County Historical Society’s time-honored celebration returns Wednesday, July 4, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The celebration takes place at the historic site, located at 2241 Lincoln Avenue.
Visitors of all ages can tour the rooms of the stately Ham House free of charge, experience frontier life at the Humke one-room school and Iowa’s oldest standing building, the Arriandeau Log house. Relax while enjoying live music, eating picnic food favorites, and enjoying our traditional cakes and ice cream treats! Bring the kids along to participate in Victorian games, hear the thunder of cannon fire, and experience other living history demonstrations.
Admission and house tours are free and open to the public; however, donations will be accepted. Proceeds will benefit the Mathias Ham Historic Site, a property of the Dubuque County Historical Society.
The Ice Cream Social is sponsored by U.S. Bank, Prairie Farms Dairy, and Queen B Radio.
