The community is invited to celebrate Museum Day at the Mathias Ham Historic Site on Saturday, April 4, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. The annual celebration is led by Smithsonian magazine in partnership with Smithsonian affiliates across the country.
Museum Day tickets are available at Smithsonianmag.com/museumday. Each ticket provides free admission for up to two people on Saturday, April 4, and one ticket is available per email address submitted. Costumed interpreters will be available at the site sharing history of the house, the Ham family, and what it would have been like to live as a family member or servant in the home.
Additionally, from 9 a.m. to noon there will be an invasive species removal and habitat restoration at the Historic Site. Community members interested in volunteering for all or a portion of the morning are invited to RSVP to Jared McGovern, Curator of Conservation Programs, at 563-557-9545 x215 or email@example.com. Anyone volunteering that morning is encouraged to attend Museum Day and will receive a free admission ticket to the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium good for any day.
