Date & Time
The Mathias Ham Historic Site’s 56th annual Fourth of July Ice Cream Social will take place Thursday, July 4, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. This time-honored celebration provides visitors of all ages an opportunity to tour the stately Ham House free of charge and experience frontier life at the Humke one-room school, Iowa’s oldest standing building—the Arriandeau log house, and a replica lead mine.
Guests will enjoy live music from the The Americana Band, sample home-made ice cream, participate in living history demonstrations, play interactive games, and take part in a watermelon seed spitting contest. Dick McGrane with Dubuque's Super Hits 106 will be on site covering the event live from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The event is free to the public thanks to sponsorship from U.S. Bank In-kind support is provided by the Americana Band and Prairie Farms Dairy.
