National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium

You're invited to the largest combined Earth Day, Endangered Species Day, and World Oceans Day celebration in the world! Association of Zoos and Aquariums around the world, including the River Museum, are hosting Party for the Planet on Saturday, April 20. Featuring engaging and interactive conservation activities, Party for the Planet celebrates the Earth’s biodiversity and helps educate guests on how they can make positive impacts on the environment.

Party for the Planet runs from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m throughout the Museum & Aquarium campus. Special activities include:

White Pine Tree Giveaway (box office, MRC, while supplies last)

10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Conservation Partner Exhibitors (throughout campus)

10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Earth Crafts: Seed Bombs, Pun Printing, Create Your Own Earth (boardwalk outside MRC, while supplies last)

Paddlefish Feeding (Main Channel, MRC)

10:45 a.m. - 11 a.m.
Wyoming Toad Keeper Chat (Flooded Forrest, MRC)

Silver Carp Food Samples (MRC, while supplies last)

The event and all activities are included with general admission and free for members and children under three.

Several of the River Museum’s conservation partners will be on hand to discuss their own conservation methods in support of wildlife and environmental protection, including, but not limited to the Army Corps of Engineers, Iowa DNR, Mines of Spain Friends Group, Trees Forever Dubuque Chapter, Catfish Creek Watershed Authority, U.S. Fish & Wildlife Services, the Mississippi River Network, and Dubuque Metro Area Solid Waste Agency.

Party for the Planet is supported through the generosity of the Mississippi River Network’s Campaign Funding Program, and guests will receive saplings donated by Wagner Nursery while supplies last.

The celebration is one of several conservation events being planned by the Museum & Aquarium in April. Other events include Cocktails for Conservation, FrogWatch USA, and Invasive Species Beatdown. More information on these events can be found at
