Da Vinci Days - Launch

Date & Time

September 8, 2018 @ 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Location

350 E. 3rd St., Dubuque, Iowa 52001

Leonardo da Vinci was a man of many talents, which is why the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium is hosting DaVinci Days, a seven part series taking place this summer, focusing on his many areas of study. Part six of seven, “Launch”, sponsored by the University of Dubuque, will be held Saturday, September 8, 2018, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and highlight da Vinci’s propulsion machines such as the catapult, as well as his ability to launch new ideas.

“Launch Day” will feature all regularly scheduled daily activities at the Museum & Aquarium, as well as additional activities for all ages, including:

  • Build and launch your own catapult
  • Construct da Vinci’s free standing bridge
  • Experiment with machines in the Museum & Aquarium’s Boat Shop
  • Special Creature Feature on Museum & Aquarium geckos, who have a special flap of skin that helps them launch and glide
  • Following “Launch Day” activities, visitors can visit DaVinci The Exhibition to explore replicas of da Vinci’s propulsion inventions, including the catapult, tank, steam cannon, and much more!

All DaVinci Day activities are included with admission to both the Museum & Aquarium and DaVinci The Exhibition. Tickets are available at the box office or online at rivermuseum.com.

The Museum & Aquarium, in partnership with the University of Dubuque, will also host two moderated Q&As with bestselling author of Becoming Leonardo, Mike Lankford at 12:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. on the same date, in the Mississippi River Center’s Journey Theater.
