An affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution, the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium engages visitors in the exploration of the history, culture, animals, and conservation found along the mighty Mississippi River and rivers of America.

Enjoy dynamic aquariums and historical exhibits, a boatyard, the William M. Black dredge boat, and a wetland area along our 14-acre campus. Up-close and personal experiences with live animals take place daily, including Creature Features and multiple touch tanks.

Our comprehensive river campus has an adventure waiting for you at every turn…and as a property of the Dubuque County Historical Society, your tour can also include the historic Mathias Ham Historic Site.
