The National Achievement Award is the highest honor presented by the National Rivers Hall of Fame to those people who are making significant contributions to America’s waterways. The National Rivers Hall of Fame with members in 36 states is the only national museum telling the stories of the people of America’s rivers.

Mark Knoy

Awarded in 2015.

Mark Knoy is President and Chief Executive Officer of American Commercial Barge Line, one of the most diversified marine transportation and manufacturing companies in the country with a fleet of approximately 2,000 barges and over 115 towboats. He has been a leader in the river industry for over 35 years. He serves as a director of the Corps of Engineer’s Inland Waterways
Users Board, a Board of Trustees’ member for both the Coast Guard Foundation, the Seamen’s Church Institute and its Center for Maritime Education and Ministry on the River, chairman of National Waterways Foundation, board member for the H.T. Pott Inland Waterways Library at the University of Missouri - St. Louis, and treasurer of the Marine Transportation Council. He is also a
past chairman of the Waterways Council, Inc. and the Midwest Region of the American Waterways Operators, past director of the Inland Waterways Users Board, and former member of the Federal Reserve Board’s Industry Council.

One of Knoy’s greatest accomplishments is his leadership in establishing RiverWorks Discovery® (RWD®). As president of AEP River Operations LLC from 2001-11, Knoy lead the development of the RWD® program in 2004 and championed support for the program with the AEP Foundation and eventually led the gifting of the program to the National Rivers Hall of Fame in 2010.
