McDonough Foundation supports Mathias Ham House restoration efforts

The James B. and Melita A. McDonough Foundation has awarded the Dubuque County Historical Society (DCHS) $20,000 for restoration efforts at the Mathias Ham House located at 2241 Lincoln Ave. in Dubuque, Iowa. Mathis Ham Historic Site reopens for season with modified Fourth of July celebration

The Mathias Ham Historic Site will reopen on July 2 with a modified Fourth of July celebration. What was to be its 57th annual Fourth of July Ice Cream Social will, given the current pandemic, be modified for 2020 into a multiday series called Independence Days held July 2 – 4 from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Independence Days will feature small group Ham House tours with interpreters stationed throughout the home. Jeffris Family Foundation provides funding for Ham House

The Dubuque County Historical Society and its Mathias Ham Historic Site are pleased to announce a funding award from the Jeffris Family Foundation. The Jeffris Family Foundation has been dedicated to preserving the cultural heritage of the Midwest by providing funding support to non-profit organizations working to preserve regional and national historic properties since 1979. Ham Site offers free admission during Museum Day

The Mathias Ham Historic Site is participating in Smithsonian magazine’s 15th annual Museum Day on Sept. 21, 2019, from 1-4 p.m. Museum Day is an initiative across the United States to emulate the spirit of the Smithsonian Institution’s Washington D.C.-based facilities, which offer free admission every day.
