Summer Camp Scholarships Available with support from Walmart, Tim & Nancy Butler

The National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium has been providing engaging summer camp experiences to area youth for over 15 years. For many of those years, the organization has sought support to provide scholarships to youth in need of assistance.

Thanks to support from Walmart and Tim & Nancy Butler, the River Museum will be offering a limited number of scholarships for its 2022 summer camps. Scholarships are available for those utilizing one of four qualifying programs: SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), LIHEAP (Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program), Medicaid, and/or Housing Choice Voucher Program Section 8.

Elementary camp themes include Kinder Kamp: Animal Friends, All Fun and Games, Rock of All Ages, Fish from around the World, Mystery at the Museum, and Forever Forest, while middle school youth are invited to a Next Level Adventure overnight experience.

“The financial support provided by WalMart and the Butlers is vital to our efforts of increasing accessibility and removing barriers to participation,” says Wendy Scardino, Director of Marketing and Communications. “This support, hand-in-hand with our participation in Museums for All, is expanding educational and cultural opportunities in our community.
